Art Basel 2014 Hotels

By Elicia Sacharow

Are you ready for Art Basel 2014?

Miami Beach constantly surprises and delights with all sorts of events and festivals throughout the year (SoBe Wine & Food Festival, anyone?), but perhaps its most popular draw of all is Art Basel. Since 2002, the art world descends upon Miami every December for several busy days with plenty of events, soirees, and exhibits to sate the desire for fine art (and keep tens of thousands of attendees entertained, of course!). We love the buzz that surrounds Art Basel every year and look forward to it as we’re sure you do too!

Rooms are filling up fast and now is the time to snag your room before they’re all gone! Check out our picks for top places to stay for Art Basel 2014! Dates are 4 December– 7 December.

The Betsy South Beach

Arts at The Betsy South Beach

John Murillo Poetry Reading at BBar

As the premiere arts hotel in our collection, we simply have to showcase this beauty first. The luxe amenities are great, but what really makes The Betsy shine is her arts calendar that encompasses a writer in residence, rotating art exhibits, and a live music calendar that’ll make any jazz lover swoon. The concierge also keeps close tabs on what’s going on in Miami’s art world, so you can count on them to connect you with an arts experience that will complement your favorite branch of the arts.

The Marlin

The Marlin South Beach Boutique Hotel

You know what’s cool about the Marlin? Aside from the obvious (to us) answer of “everything”, we absolutely love the premise of a hotel fueled by sound. How awesome is it that there’s a recording studio in-house that’s routinely used by top-name artists that you too can rent? If the recording studio doesn’t interest you as much, we’re still pretty sure your room will inspire you to get creative. Technology is hidden in unexpected details (mirrors are never just mirrors) and in the palm of your hand from the moment you receive your Marlin iPad at check-in. You’ll control everything here from the TV to choosing movies and music to bringing your blinds up or down. Coolest stay in South Beach? We think so.

Dream South Beach

Dream South Beach Boutique Hotel

As sophisticated as Art Basel is, Miami is always down for a party—and so is the Dream South Beach. The bright rooftop and pool moves effortlessly from chill day to happening night as the denizens of Miami Beach come in for drinks to the Highbar. Since you’re in the center of SoBe, you can walk virtually anywhere you want to be (and catch a cab when it’s just too far). The Dream’s size is also just right at 108 rooms, giving you a workable blend between intimate surroundings yet not everyone has to know your name. 1970’s Morocco never looked so chic.

Prime Hotel

Prime Hotel Miami Beach Boutique Hotel

Sometimes you need your space away from everything going on at such a large event like Art Basel. Sometimes you just really want to pretend like your hotel room is your getaway condo, and ideally you’ll be right on top of the most in-demand restaurants. Sounds like a fantasy, but it’s reality at the Prime Hotel. This exclusive 14-room gem in SoFi (South of Fifth) sits on top of one of the dining rooms for the eponymous Prime 112, across the street from Prime Italian, and just down the street from Prime Fish (and you can get room service from any of them). To sweeten the deal, you get a rooftop pool that’s all yours.

We may be biased, but we think a boutique hotel in Miami Beach is the perfect complement to Art Basel. Regardless of where you stay, book now! Search our Miami inventory here.
